I am excited to tell you that my new home doesn’t need an HVAC system at all.
After reading a good book and doing a lot of researching, I have decided to go off-grid, meaning that I am completely ditching electricity in general.
This will be a huge step for me, but I know that it is the right decision. A lot of people have been asking me how I plan to live without electricity. Their number one concern is that they don’t think I will be able to survive without HVAC units. Specifically, they don’t understand how I plan to survive without a heating system. Though living without an air conditioner can be uncomfortable, living without a furnace or other heating system could literally be a fatal choice. However, because of how I built my new house, I will never have to worry about having a heating or cooling system. I learned that you do not need an HVAC system in your house if you build your house underground! My house is completely underground, minus the attic and the roof which collects my water. When living underground, the house remains at the constant temperature of the earth. You will find that your house remains at 60-70 degrees throughout the entire year, all without the help of an air conditioner or furnace. People think that I am crazy, but it is true. Do you know how money I have saved by not purchasing any HVAC units? Do you know how much money I will save in the long run by not paying for HVAC technicians to fix my HVAC units? It makes the whole thing worth it.
