My son was devastated when he and his family had to move back home. Due to no fault of his own, he lost his job. Everyone who worked at that company, lost their job when the company suddenly closed their doors. He had been looking for a job for almost a year, and his family was crumbling. My husband and I offered to let them live with us until they were able to get back on their feet. Although we all get along well, our son wasn’t happy. He felt like he was letting everyone down. One day, he came home from looking for work and told me he had signed up to go back to school. He was looking at a bulletin board that had a flyer about the local college offering HVAC certification classes. He was able to get the tuition on payments. He was thrilled to be able to be doing something that would get him back to work. Since he was in school, unemployment wasn’t going to drop him. I couldn’t believe the way his confidence began returning when he began his HVAC certification classes. By the time he had graduated, he was almost back to himself. He graduated at the top of his class and he had a job in a local HVAC company even before he got his certification papers. He loved his new job and he was talking about furnaces and air conditioning units all of the time. At one point his wife told him that if he didn’t find a different subject, she was going to scream. We were all proud of his accomplishments and that he had finally gotten his confidence back.
