However, when it really starts getting to me, I will find the coolest spot in town and go do the shopping.
Where I live, we are all looking for a cool spot to hide from the summer heat. Our area deals with about 4 months of temperatures hovering around a 100 degrees. This requires plenty of HVAC comfort inside the home. However, that comes at a real cost. Cooling a home in this part of the world can get so expensive if you don’t do your best to minimize the HVAC output. It just gets so intensely hot that the natural reaction is to lower the HVAC setting far too much. When it’s nearly triple digits outside, having a home cooled to the low seventies makes no sense at all. First, it’s just wasteful. It’s expensive and not a sustainable behavior where the earth is concerned. This is why I am vigilant about keeping the house in the mid eighties when its a hundred outside. This way the house is relatively much cooler than outside. I just utilize fans during the worst part of the day to help cool me off. However, when it really starts getting to me, I will find the coolest spot in town and go do the shopping. I mean why not? I have to shop anyway. So, why not go when the heat in the house is at its peak? I do this quite often actually since I work from home and can adjust my schedule. The thought of cooling off about 4pm makes just so much sense to me. Plus, I love that it is on somebody else’s dime!
