When my son got engaged, I knew I wanted to look my best for his wedding.
- I didn’t want to be in a bunch of photographs and unhappy with my appearance.
I’ve never been overweight. I take very good care of myself. I don’t smoke, eat fast food and rarely drink alcohol. I am a vegetarian, and I workout faithfully every day. As a 55 year old woman, I keep myself in very good shape. However, I was carrying around 5 to 10 extra pounds that I really wanted to lose. To make improvements, I got more serious about my diet and exercise. I cut out bread, cheese, pasta, rice and sugar and added more fresh fruits and vegetables. I upped the intensity and duration of my workout sessions. I made sure I was drenched with sweat, breathing hard and sore at the end of each one. I managed to drop a few pounds, but I wasn’t satisfied. With only a couple of months before the wedding, I realized I needed professional assistance. At my local gym, there’s flyers advertising the services of personal trainers. I’d always ignored them. I’ve never had any trouble handling my own fitness regiment. However, I was desperate. I looked over the different flyers, found the one that sounded right for me and gave the guy a call. I explained what I needed and we set up a time to meet. I’ve never worked out so hard in my life. He pushed me way harder and got me doing exercises I’d never have tried on my own. At the end of the first session, my legs felt like Jell-O, and I was dripping sweat. It was fantastic, and I couldn’t wait to get back at it. By the time of the wedding, the personal trainer had me in the best shape of my life, and I’ve continued to meet with him several times per week.
